WINTER NEWSLETTER

Greetings from The Bent Brick! It’s just starting to feel a bit colder after all of the beautiful sunny days we’ve had!  We’ve been watching the grape harvest and cheering on our local winemakers as they work tirelessly to bring in their fruit and begin to make some beautiful wine.  How lucky are we to have this all in our backyard?!  Again this year Andrew Rich has hooked us up with a “Bent Blend” for our taps. Dark, deep, full and perfect for the winter menu that is looking AMAZING! Chef is transitioning quickly to use the rich seasonal bounty of our local farms. From the earth and the animal it will feed us all this winter.  We know most of these dishes are going to quickly become staples on our menu. The Charcuterie Board with a chunky country pate, pork rillettes, house made pickles, mustard and country ham and a to die for Porchetta Sandwich which you can add a fried egg to! Oh, but the Lamb Cassoulet seems to be everyone’s favorite, Braised Lamb, white fabes beans from Viridian Farms, squash and earthy vegetables all baked in a clay dish with a Lamb Boudoin Noir on top. Swoon! Top it all off with an Old Fashioned from our taps and there is nothing better! (Crazy but true, Old Fashioneds on tap!)

The holidays are right around the corner and we have some great events to help you celebrate your winter months! The first is coming up very quickly! On November 7th we are holding a SAUSAGE AND BREAKSIDE BEER DINNER upstairs in our sweet private dining/classroom space!  “Four courses, five beers and witty conversation with the brewers!” is how our friends at Breakside are describing it!

Next, HOLIDAY COCKTAILS AND SNACKS CLASS on November 13th so that you can brush up on your holiday cocktail making skills before the big parties and family gatherings begin! Learn how to make a simple yet delicious appetizer to please all of your guest. Michelle has so many great fall and winter cocktails on the menu you’ll be tempted to come sit at the bar and do some serious “research” once you see the new cocktail menu!

Last of the year but certainly not least…..Scott Dolich and Ben Jacobsen of JACOBSEN SALT CO. are teaming up on December 4th for not only a wildly fun and delicious dinner but also an education and demonstration in seasoning to perfection! Our bar manager Michelle is also joining in on the fun and using one of Jacobsen’s new cocktail salts to create a brand new drink for everyone to enjoy! It will certainly be an evening to remember!

Don’t forget about the WINE GROWLER LAW and that you can pick up a growler, jug or container of up to 2 gallons of our wine on tap to bring to your holiday parties! You could be the only one to bring KEN WRIGHT’S GUADALUPE VINYARD PINOT NOIR to the party because it’s not even in bottles yet!! Yeah!

Looking ahead into the New Year we have Gift Certificates to our FEBRUARY EVENTS available as great gifts! The appropriately named LIBATIONS OF LOVE COCKTAIL CLASS on February 5th is scheduledjust in time for Valentine’s Day!  Our first ever BUTCHERY CLASS on February 26th will teach you how to breakdown and make the most of a chicken plus a bit of wine and a chicken feast after the class!
